In January 2019, Iran published its latest energy balance (March 2016 to March 2017). Energy production for domestic use and exports totaled 394 mtoe in this period. Three important characteristics of the Iranian Energy Balance stand out: self-sustaining supply, high importance of natural gas, and substantial energy losses.
